We were a party of five across three rooms. The hotel for Christmas was decorated nicely and the rooms modern, not quite what some reviews allege. Staff go above and beyond, with one lady receptionist on duty speaking to senior management to keep our dog in one room after a miscommunication where one of our party was told dogs were allowed. Also thanks to the male receptionists who helped my partner's mother who fell over. They rushed to assist in lifting her to her feet without hesitation. The bar is reasonably priced and after the little one in our party went to bed, despite noone else in the bar it was still easy to get a drink, with a cider on the house when I went down for one on Christmas day. Overall we all very much enjoyed our stay here and will return.

Breakfast was good, and plentiful, one of our party was gluten intolerant and gluten free muesli was available and bread was supplied on request. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Evening meal was very good the steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The heating wouldn’t work but on approaching the reception the manager went above and beyond to remedy the problem. All in all the Shendish Manor was a great place to stay the staff are a credit to the company and what niggles we had were put right very quickly. Special mention must go to the manager who was on duty on the afternoon of 22nd April, who, while training two new colleagues, still managed to take time out to support us with our problems and remedy them.

Some previous reviews said the decor was a bit tired. I did not find it so. The room I had was very well refurbished, and well maintained. The main hall and reception are decorated in a manner reminiscent of a club, which is entirely appropriate for a country house built in Victorian times, with gardens laid out by a famous designer of that period. Its a bit remote, since the adjoining village is very small, so the half board deal is in my view good value.

The building and the grounds are beautiful. The restaurant is lovely and the garden views are great. There is plenty of parking. Check in was simple and our room was ready soon after arrival. The area is off the main road so is very quiet. Even a wedding in the building did not really disturb the peace.

David

Fantastic night manager and the staff in the bar and the check in desk were friendly and welcoming. The room was fantastic and the facilities available in the room were great. The room was as expected in the photos and the views of the golf course and surrounding green atmosphere were fabulous.
